You Can Now Grow A Garden In The Istana, Singapore’s Very Own White House

15 December 2017

From January 2018, avid gardeners will get to prune, water, grow and harvest plants at the Istana up to three times a month.

About 50 people have already signed up. Whether seasoned green thumb or gardening newbie, everyone’s welcome – sessions will be guided by officers from the National Parks’ Board (NParks), and gardening tools will be provided.

This new Volunteer Gardeners@Istana programme was recently launched by President Halimah Yacob. She had said earlier that she wanted to make the Istana – Singapore’s very own White House – more accessible to ordinary Singaporeans through new programmes.
