Lend a hand and save a paw! Join OSCAS‘s team of volunteers in areas of fundraising, advocacy and events management. The shelter, which houses mongrels rescued from the streets or from being culled, is managed almost entirely by volunteers, and you’ll need to chip in at least a few hours a week.
This animal welfare charity was set up to support the needs of local animal welfare in Singapore, and they work hand in hand with various organisations to help local community dogs and cats. Lend a hand with their publicity and events efforts or help out at the CAS Adoption Centre.
Formed in 1999, the organisation develops strategies and programmes to stabilise and reduce the population of stray cats in Singapore by working closely with town councils and government bodies. They need volunteers who can commit from medium to long-term periods as co-ordinators, community cat caregivers and mediators, or take up management roles.
Dedicated to rabbit welfare and awareness, HRSS‘s volunteers educate the public on being responsible pet owners through their popular schools’ programme. You can also contribute articles on rabbit care and behaviour to their website and quarterly newsletter, or to provide proper rabbit care guidance and counselling to new rabbit owners.
Work with dogs at their Adoption and Rescue Centre, help with logistics work or contribute behind the scenes in publicity, fund-raising and more. This non-profit organisation also organises epic pet-centric events, like the Jazz for Dogs picnic (pictured) at the Singapore Botanic Gardens, adoption drives and more.
Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA) Singapore
Be an advocate for this well-known animal welfare organisation by volunteering as an individual or corporate team. Hands-on volunteering opportunities include cleaning animal enclosures and surrounding areas, and taking the dogs out for their regular morning walk. They also need people to man the animal shelter office, and the SPCA merchandise shop.
Founded in 2002, ALL operates on a strictly no-kill policy. Housing 700 dogs and cats – including strays, abandoned, traumatised, abused and rescued animals – is no easy feat. ALL counts on volunteers to clean the shelter grounds, fix up the facilities, prepare animal food, shower and walk the dogs, and help out at adoption drives.
This volunteer-run organisation is dedicated to ensuring that SG’s many street dogs are well taken care of and receive the love they deserve. You can choose to help either via donations, volunteering your time or even through foster care.
