Sir Manasseh Meyer International School is dedicated to helping your child grow through what they do best: play!
Sir Manasseh Meyer International School (SMMIS) adopts a holistic viewpoint towards education, rich with the vibrancy of Jewish values, tradition and culture.
SMMIS follows the British National Literacy Curriculum and Singapore Maths Curriculum. Elements of the Reggio Emilia educational approach to teaching and learning shape the school’s curriculum as well.
Not Just Child’s Play
Learning through play provides opportunities for children to learn as they discover, create, improvise and imagine. For its early years students, SMMIS is especially encouraging of them to engage in the activity of playing. Through playing with other children, students can create social groups, test out ideas, challenge each other’s thinking and build new notions of understanding. Preschool children engage inactivities such as sand play, water play and working with play dough.
Child-Led Activities
At SMMIS, children are active participants in class activities where they can contribute to discussions and lead learning sessions. Teachers at SMMIS move beyond preconceived expectations about what children can do and learn. Instead, they respect and work with each child’s unique qualities and abilities, and help develop each child’s innate curiosity and sense of wonder in a developmentally appropriate way. SMMIS provides a supportive environment where children can ask their questions, solve problems and engage in critical thinking.
Global Oriented
World Religions at SMMIS allows students to learn more about the world’s major religions such as Sikhism, Christianity and Hinduism. An emphasis is placed on respecting each other’s beliefs and learning to appreciate diversity. Mandarin and Hebrew are also taught to students as a second language
