Founded in Singapore in 1978, Kinderland has grown here and throughout the region, thanks to its curriculum that focuses on the holistic development of a child’s early years.
While the preschool has won numerous awards, and continues to propel its students ahead of the education curve, it takes special pride in each and every child’s success story. Read about one such student here!
An alumnus of Kinderland Preschool at the Ministry of Manpower, Jakob Carstens returned to his school in July 2019 – after graduating 11 years before – to visit his teachers and celebrate Racial Harmony Day with current students.
Why did Jakob’s parents send him to Kinderland in the first place? His dad Dr. Stefan Carstens explains, “We chose Kinderland for its unique curriculum. My wife and I were impressed by how Jakob was able to learn the basic subjects, and develop his character and discipline, which helped his transition to elementary school.”
Kinderland’s holistic curriculum exposes students – from infants on up to 6 years old – to a variety of engaging subjects, developing academic acumen and also imparting important life skills. Just one example: Its Kinderland Integrated Curriculum teaches little ones to read and write in both English and Mandarin.
In addition, its acclaimed Music-Enriched Programme allows kids like Jakob to hone their fine-motor and problem-solving skills, while enhancing focus and creativity. Kinderland offers students an early start in Mathematics, too, plus overall wellness through its unique physical education programme, KinderFit.
For Jakob, he was able to speak and write fluently in both the English and Mandarin language by age 4. “When we arrived back in Germany, Jakob was ready for school. With Kinderland’s structured curriculum, he was able to read and write ahead of his peers!” his dad notes.
Now 15, Jakob is spending a year in Wisconsin in the U.S., and continues to excel in handball, where he has played in the highest league for his age class for two consecutive years at state-level.

Go to its site to arrange a tour at any of its 17 preschool centres, conveniently located in the Central Business District area and residential areas. Also, consider enrolling your child in Kinderland’s flagship and largest centre at Yio Chu Kang, which offers an elective programme, featuring the only preschool percussion marching band for children aged 4 to 6 years old in Singapore.
