Find out why Beloved Bumps – designed for new and expecting parents – keeps growing in popularity.
Founded by Natasha Cullen, one of our Expatpreneur Awards 2019 winners. Beloved Bumps provides couples in Singapore with a variety of informative and fun courses to help them during pregnancy as well as after giving birth.
With eight years of experience working as a midwife in top London hospitals – caring for women in both low- and high-risk pregnancies – Natasha has been able to gauge the needs of mums- and dads-to-be in Singapore and provide a comfortable environment for them to learn more.
Nurturing Families
“Whilst I was meeting new mums in baby classes, I was asking them about their antenatal classes, and whether they had formed a good network from them,” shares Natasha, who moved here in 2017 with a 2-year-old and a 2-month-old. “Most hadn’t. Even worse, some had been singled out in the class because of their choice of birth or feeding, and had a negative experience. I didn’t want other parents to feel the same.”
Making The Most Out Of Classes
Enter Beloved Bumps. Its one-of-a-kind classes – ranging from prenatal to exercise, and even to first aid – include games and demos so the lessons are interactive, unbiased and entertaining. “They are sociable – we provide beers for the dads-to-be to keep it very informal,” she says. “All couples are grouped together based on their due dates, so everyone gives birth around the same time.” Beloved Bumps also hosts a regular Ladies Lunch, where women from the course go for lunch together, plus a postnatal reunion after each group’s last baby is born.
Inclusive Community
The classes are designed to provide all the information you need to make informed choices throughout your labour and birth. To cultivate an unbiased community, the team embraces your choices. “We don’t judge parents if they want a caesarean or a water birth, whether they want to breastfeed or formulafeed,” she explains. “We would rather have parents that are positive and confident in their choices, having made them being fully informed.”
