











vOilah! France Singapore Festival returns this year as the first foreign cultural festival to be held in Singapore since the start of Covid. It takes on a greater significance this year as it bears testament to the resilience of both France and Singapore, and the strength of its partnerships. Presented by the Embassy of France in Singapore, this year’s line-up carries a diverse range of on-site, and for the first time, virtual experiences to showcase the best of French and Singaporean innovation and creativity.

Organised by the Singapore Centre for Social Enterprise (raiSE), Asia’s largest celebration of Social Enterprises, FestivalForGood, will soon be returning for its largest edition yet – featuring 130 participating Social Enterprises from Singapore and the region, with a virtual twist. It will kick off this Saturday with the launch of a marketplace of socially-conscious products and services, a B2B Experience, interactive workshops, as well as a series of panel discussions among industry thought leaders. In the Marketplace, festival-goers can take their pick from a wide variety of quality products and services by local and regional Social Enterprises and the interactive online Workshops organised by Social Enterprises allow you to pick up new life skills.

This November the Dutch Embassy and Netherlands Charity Association (NCA) in Singapore combine ‘doing good’ with pleasure! Pick a route from the popular ‘Book of Walks’ and walk this route between 6 and 22 November 2020. All participants will even get a free orange t-shirt upon registration!
Snap a picture during your walk and post it to social media, tagging the Dutch Embassy and NCA. The picture that best connects The Netherlands and Singapore will win an attractive prize!
All proceeds go to the support of the migrant worker community (Humanitarian Organisation for Migration Economics, HOME).
Make sure you adhere to COVID-19 regulations and don’t walk in groups of more than 5 persons. Even though it remains difficult to organize large-scale events, the Dutch Embassy and NCA still want to bring people together.

This year, Sentosa GrillFest returns with its inaugural home edition, bringing more than 80 mouth-watering treats – including juicy and tentalising burgers, grilled platters, BBQ delights, and more.
This event is also Sentosa’s first signature event since the end of Singapore’s ‘circuit breaker’ and will be happening every Thursday to Sunday
Sentosa GrillFest has also partnered the Singapore Chefs’ Association (SCA), the official body representing professional cooks in the local F&B industry, to offer 14 gastronomical creations from some of Singapore’s top chefs, conceptualised exclusively for the event. The National Arts Council (NAC) has put together the return of the Arts in Your Neighbourhood (AYN) to feature the focus towns of Kallang and Geylang.
For the very first time, AYN’s line-up will be supplemented with digital offerings, presenting a blend of 11 digital and physical programmes co-created with artists, arts organisations and community partners. Expect amazing online music, dance and theatre performances to visual art murals and a dynamic light projection display on the façade of Old Airport Road Hawker Centre, enjoy an engaging line-up of multi-genre and interactive arts experiences from the comfort of your homes or up close in person.

The international medical humanitarian organisation Doctors Without Borders/ Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) returns with the “Doctors Without Borders Film Festival” in Singapore, the third time since 2017, to give audiences a fascinating insight into aid workers in action and the realities faced by vulnerable populations around the world.
The film festival will showcase three critically-acclaimed documentaries: “Diaries from the Field”, “Restoring Dignity” and, “Panorama – Ebola Frontline” . Each screening experience will be enriched by live, online sharing sessions with experienced field workers from Doctors Without Borders, as well as a film director of one of the documentaries.

This year’s Singapore Writers Festival (SWF) boasts a diverse range of writers with a stellar line-up. Organised by the National Arts Council (NAC), the multilingual literary festival brings together writers, thinkers and audiences from Singapore and around the world to explore the theme of ‘Intimacy’ through words and stories in this time of distancing.
Audiences can look forward to hearing from literary titan Margaret Atwood, of The Handmaid’s Tale and 2019 Booker Prize-winner The Testaments; award-winning journalist and columnist Naomi Klein who wrote the seminal books The Shock Doctrine and No Logo; acclaimed author Sarah Lewis, of The Rise; and prodigious novelist, critic and photographer Teju Cole. Audiences can also interact in real time with Atwood and Klein in the question-and-answer segment of their programmes.
