Tan Mui Jin, who goes by Jin, is the founder and director of Kaboodle, a super-creative indoor playground custom-made for little ones – that cares about the adults, too.
“As a parent who spent my share of time in playgrounds, I knew what I wanted and did not want,” shares Jin, who is mum to Chloe, 18; Caden, 16; and Caelin, 10. “I wanted a calm space where I could spend time with or just watch my kid – with or without friends. Good food and drinks are a bonus.”
The businesswoman studied fine arts and worked as an interior designer before starting Kaboodle. “This background in design and fine arts ensured I was always able to keep my kids entertained with creative activities,” says Jin. These days her great eye influences her favourite buys, including a cactus-print face mask from KatuDesign. “I loooove the design so much, and so did my daughter, Chloe,” she says, noting Chloe now owns the mask. “I am happy with that, as I can see the design better if I am looking at her.”
“Most of my time is spent enabling my passions of cooking, eating and drinking,” confesses Jin. “I love shopping for food, preparing the food, plating the food and eating the food.” And she adores a local food find. “One that always gets me smiling ear to ear is Hjh Maimunah Restaurant along Joo Chiat Road.”
