After having his fair share of being an employee, Sean Lim decided to become his own boss by launching BacMall, an online retail platform for luxury fashion goods – more specifically, high-end handbags.
“My eight years at [luxury eCommerce platform] Reebonz leapfrogged me into the B2C space,” explains Sean of this “business-to-consumer” model of selling products or services directly to customers. He initially launched BacMall in Hong Kong in 2011, before eventually bringing it to SG in 2018. Singaporean Sean is now a father to 14-month-old, Asher, with his Australian- Chinese wife, Kelly.
As a lover of golfing, gardening and chillouts at his own pergola, Sean carves out time for himself amidst his busy schedule. But one of his favourite pastimes is perhaps the simplest. “My wife and myself will usually take a 5-kilometre walk about the neighbourhood.”
Staying sane in the midst of a pandemic is not always easy with the constant exposure to the news. “I stay away from all the negative news,” says Sean, who currently lives in Sydney. “I don’t even browse for Covid-related information, and I always advise others to do the same.”
