Originally, Samantha Yik just dabbled in interior styling as a hobby for friends and family.
But in 2016, she took the plunge and founded ARELI Designs, which curates home decor accessories from all over the world and offers personalized styling services for clients. What’s been the secret of her success? “‘Word of mouth’ is an important [aspect of] business for us, since everyone seems largely interconnected in a small island like Singapore.”
Along the years, Samantha has cultivated healthy habits, such as drinking two or more cups of blue pea tea from Scoop Wholefoods each day. “It’s supposed to be an elixir for all good things, like healthy hair growth, clearer skin, better sleep and more,” she says of the bright blue beverage made from Asian Pigeonwings flowers.
She also safeguards her seven hours of sleep each night. “I’ve started doing some light reading before bed instead of watching TV or anything that might be too active.”
Samantha is a mom of two teens, and says her daughters’ pop music influences have rubbed off on her. “I know I’m too old for this, but I love watching videos of my favourite Korean Pop group, BTS!” she confesses. “My daughters were fans first and I initially tagged along to bond with them. I ended up becoming a super fan myself!”
