Indulge us as we list out some of Dr. Andrea’s credentials: She studied medicine in Slovakia, and obtained a specialised degree in internal medicine before moving to Singapore in 1995. Once here, she earned a PhD in Medicine from the National University of Singapore (NUS) and worked 15 years in the National University Hospital (NUH) as a gastroenterologist.
“It was always my dream to have my own clinic and care for my patients,” shares Dr. Andrea, who eventually fulfilled that dream in 2010 when she opened Andrea’s Digestive, Colon, Liver and Gallbladder Clinic. “I felt there was a need to fill gaps between the medical services provided by specialists and professionals plus overall day-to-day patients’ life recommendations.”
eAwards judge Steve Melhuis commended the “hardworking and passionate” doctor for her commitment to offering personalised, holistic care. “I run my clinic Monday to Saturday and often see patients on Sunday as well, so there is little time for hobbies,” acknowledges Andrea, who is wife to fellow Slovakian expat Stephen and mother to Alex, 17, Annette, 15. “Family is my biggest passion and form of relaxation.”
