Singapore’s longest-running publication for expats has honoured expat business owners for its third year running.
Two years ago, The Finder debuted its first-ever Expatpreneur Awards to honour foreign-born entrepreneurs running successful businesses in and from Singapore.
What do all of The Finder Expatpreneur Awardees have in common? Beyond just showing admirable vision and drive, their brands help people “live well in Singapore” – The Finder’s own core mission.

As the longest-running publication for expats in Singapore – started by two British expats in 1993 to provide trusted business listings to fellow foreigners – The Finder was founded on entrepreneurship and serving the community.
So, for its third edition of the Expatpreneur Awards, The Finder again assembled a panel of esteemed judges, including founder and principal researcher at Expat Research and Singapore University of Social Sciences senior lecturer Dr. Yvonne McNulty, who is credited with coining the term “expat-preneur” in 2015, as well as Angela Torres-Andresen, Founder and Executive Director of the Latin American Chamber of Commerce, Singapore. (Tip: Click to slide 19 in the gallery, below, to read more about our judges.)
Now, drum roll, please! These are this year’s incredibly inspiring, impressive and deserving Expatpreneur Award winners. They are featured in Issue 298 of The Finder, which you can download for free. (How exactly did they win? Find out on slide 20.)

About the Judging Criteria
To be selected to be an Expatpreneur Award candidate, nominated business owners must meet specific criteria, including:
•Their business or businesses must have been founded or co-founded by an expatriate currently living in Singapore.
•Said business(es) must be an original concept, not an existing franchise founded by someone other than the nominee(s).
•The business(es) must be registered with Singapore’s Accounting and Corporate Regulatory Authority (ACRA) and earn a taxable income (i.e., be profitable).
•The business(es) must help expats and/or Singaporeans “live well in Singapore” – The Finder’s own core mission.
Then, our judging panel scores their required submissions to help determine each year’s winners. In addition, six Special Awards are given to winners deemed exceptional in specific areas, based on provided testimonials, etc.
To nominate your favourite expat-owned businesses for next year’s awards, email us at thefinder@sph.com.sg by 31 January, 2020!
