How does CoolSculpting work?
It adopts a targeted cooling method through Cryolipolysis fat-freezing technology. This aims to cool and damage fat cells with minimal injury to the surrounding skin or tissue.
Once the tissue is drawn into the applicator using vacuum pressure, the excess fat cells are deep cooled (“frozen”) to a level that causes inflammation in the fatty tissue underneath.

Where does the fat go?
It is cleared from the body through the lymphatic system, filtered through the liver and removed from the body as waste (urine and stool).
This process takes place gradually over two to three months.
What does it feel like?
In the first few minutes of cooling, you will feel pressure and intense cold. This soon dissipates and many patients often read, watch videos, work on their laptop or even take a nap while the device does its work.
The treatment area may feel numb and turn red afterwards, but this typically fades within a few hours.

Are there side effects?
These vary in severity and may include swelling, bruising and a stinging sensation.
In the first two weeks, patients may experience deep itching, tingling, numbness, cramping and more.
However, the clinic uses a gentle technique, massage, compresses as well as a post treatment vibrational therapy to help to reduce inflammation, minimise discomfort and aid with the healing process.
How many sessions will I need?
This depends on the number of areas being treated per session.
The friendly CoolSculpting team will discuss the number of treatments to meet your goals. But it is not recommended as a long-term weight loss solution and is most effective when combined with a sensible eating and exercise programme.
